On the same day you come to us with a broken or weak tooth, you can leave our office with a beautiful restoration. Same-day crowns from the Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry help you to quickly smile with confidence again.
What Is a Same-Day Crown?
A traditional dental crown takes two appointments. During the first appointment, an examination and impressions of your teeth are made. After a laboratory makes your crown, you return to the dental office for it to be placed. A same-day crown is received in just one visit. If you are concerned that a same-day crown is either a temporary crown or a cheap off-the-shelf solution that looks noticeably different from your natural teeth, relax. The crowns we use are permanent, customized, and made of high-quality ceramic. CEREC® is CAD/CAM, in-office technology that allows Dr. King and her team to craft a lifelike crown while you wait.
What’s the Process?
- First, decay or other damage to your natural tooth is removed, and the size of your tooth is reduced in preparation for a dental crown.
- Your teeth are scanned with a handheld, intraoral camera that takes digital pictures for precise crown sculpting and placement.
- A digital model of your tooth is made and used by a CEREC milling machine to craft a crown that fits well and matches the characteristics of your natural teeth.
- After Dr. King selects a block of porcelain that matches your tooth color, she uses the milling machine to sculpt a custom crown for you.
How Long Does It Take?

We use CAD/CAM dental technology to provide same-day crowns.
A same-day crown is made while you wait—in about twenty minutes. When the crown is ready, it will be placed over your tooth to ensure it fits well and feels right. Your bite with the crown will be tested to ensure your comfort when you bite or chew. When Dr. King is certain that your crown fits well, it will be bonded to your tooth.
Your Same-Day Crown Can Last for Many Years
If you are diligent about maintaining good oral hygiene, your same-day crown can last ten to twenty years. Floss daily, and brush twice a day to remove plaque and food debris from your teeth and gums, and to keep your crown clean and healthy. Maintain your regularly scheduled appointments for dental cleanings and exams to ensure that your teeth are healthy and your crown is in good condition.
